Run

I am what they call an adult onset runner. I absolutely hated running as a kid.  Little did I know that at the age of 35, I would meet the love of my life and she would turn me into a runner!  She was in the middle of a challenge to run or walk 100 miles in a month and had also just registered for another half marathon at Disney.  Well, that peaked my interest and she brought me along for the ride, er run!  Laura was also registered for a local 12K a few weeks later so I joined her and was instantly hooked on that finish line runners high!

Then I started doing RunDisney races with Laura which was truly life changing.  Almost all of our closest friends today are from the RunDisney community.  This community has taught me so much about running in the last eleven years and has brought me so much joy along the way!  As in any sport though, there are many highs and lows.  Sometimes I run for time.  Sometimes I run for fun.  Sometimes I run because I just have to suck it up and get it done.  To date, I have run 34 half marathons, 8 full marathons and countless races of other distances.

I am currently training for a bucket list race, the TCS New York City Marathon! This will be my first Abbot World Major Marathon and I cannot wait to run it after years of trying to gain entry to this race! Just two months later, I will be running the Dopey Challenge at Walt Disney World for the third time. That’s 4 races covering 48.6 miles in 4 days!! You can expect to read training updates, race reports, RunDisney challenges and costumes, plus much more from my running journey!

The Road to New York Begins
